Youtube Made Me Buy It

Nearly every beauty product I buy, is something I saw being used in a youtube video and liked the look of it, or i saw some beauty blogger rave about it.

There’s nothing at all wrong with that! Reading about things online is a great way to make sure you don’t spend your money on something stupid.
However, when a product is being used, by a famous youtuber, under the right lighting with a catchy title and 1 million comments saying how great it is, it will always look better than it actually is. Among the MANY fantastic products I’ve bought because of youtube, I can admit that I’ve been convinced to buy items that i didn’t need because youtube made them so darn beautiful.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

It seems to me that everyone and their sister uses this concealer to hide under-eye circles. I bought this about 6 months ago, and while I like it, I much prefer my cheaper and honestly, better coverage, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. It is a good concealer, but i sometimes feel it gives me an orangey tone, does anyone else have that problem?

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

This one I am 100% happy with. Again nearly every single youtuber uses this mascara and I was coaxed into buying it. I’m so glad I did though because it is my absolute favourite. It’s just amazing and my lashes triple in size and darkness when I’ve got this on. Perfection.

Loreal Infallible Foundation

This is one I saw on Instagram a lot. The coverage looked incredible in the videos that I saw so I decided to give in and purchase it. It’s a reasonable price and a nice foundation for school and light-makeup days, but it’s definitely not high coverage. On top of it not being high enough coverage, I think the colour I bought was too light for me (but that one is my fault).

Morphe 35T palette

Morphe palettes are all the rage at the minute, with everyone fawning over their insane pigmentation and gorgeous colours. I was drooling over the 350 palette, for a long time and when I finally decided to buy it, it was out of stock. In a moment of pure impulse shopping, I decided to get the 35T instead. And I am in love with it. Seriously, I highly recommend this palette and all the other morphe palettes, they’re amazing.

Collection Loose Transluscent Powder

Have you heard of ‘baking’? No not the kind where you make cookies or cakes. Baking is a new trend of putting excess loose powder over your foundation to set it to the degree that it will not crease or budge for hours. Of course like every other trend I was roped into this one, but instead of splurging on the Laura Mercier powder that every. single. person. uses, I got the collection loose powder. It actually works quite well, and I especially like it for under my eyes as the concealer there creases a lot.

Is there any products you’ve bought because Youtube convinced you that you just need it? Let me know below

Perfect Valentines Day Makeup ♡

Whether your Valentines Day is spent having a fancy dinner with a special someone, or having a Gossip Girl marathon on your own, it’s nice to look nice.

Obviously, you don’t need to have a Valentine or even plans to get yourself all done up.

I’ve put together some of my favourite products that I think would make a really lovely Valentines Day makeup look.

Going with the traditional colours of Valentines Day I chose lots of pinks and reds.

There’s nothing to draw the eye like a bold lip and a lashing of highlight, which are actually two of my favourite things. I’ve included the Laura Mercier illuminating tinted moisturiser, which gives the most beautiful glowy look to your skin.

My highlight of choice, is of course the SoSu palette. I’ve mentioned it before and expressed my love for these six shades of pure shimmery heaven.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

The lipsticks I chose are;

Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick shade 101

Rimmel lipstick in shade 170 Alarm

Sleek Matte Me lip cream in Birthday Suit

NYX soft matte lip cream in the shade Istanbul

Rimmel lipstick in shade Trendsetter

As you can see I’m a big fan of Rimmel lipsticks. They’re long lasting, smell great and super affordable. I couldn’t recommend them enough, if you’re looking to try out some new colours and don’t want to spend too much.

Well that’s it! If you have any other products you think would look great for Valentines Day, let me know. Also, comment below and let me know what your plans are (if you’ve got any?), I love reading your comments!

Teenage Skincare Routine ♡

I don’t have the best skin, so I’m definitely not claiming to be an expect about skincare and how to get perfect skin, because mine is far from perfect. This is just a little routine of what I do nightly to my face. I’ve included pictures of all the products below and if you want any more information about any of them, ask in the comments.

I start by taking off any makeup I had on during the day. To do this I use to Garnier Micellar water on a cotton pad. It says that you don’t need to rinse this off your face but I do it anyway. Then I wash my face with warm water.

Next comes toner. I’ve used this one for years and it’s basically just a mixture of Witchhazel and Rosewater which is excellent for drying up spots and it smells really good too. I put that on a cotton pad and put it all over my face.

After that I use a spot cream on any blemishes I have. I use a cream called Duac which I find really good, but you can use any spot treatment that works for you. I put a tiny bit of that directly on any spots and let it dry in.

After that’s dried in I use a Simple moisturiser. I have quite sensitive skin and moisturisers that are too heavy, can make me break out. Simple is really soft and light. I put that all over again.

I like to do a face mask once a week if I can. This one is my favourite and it’s the Mask of Magnaminty from Lush. Everyone raves about this mask and I know why now because it’s amazing.

It’s possibly one of my favourite smells ever and it makes my skin feel so smooth and hydrated.

Apply a layer of it all over your face and leave it for about 10-15 minutes. Then wash it off with warm water and voila. I highly highly recommend this mask for anyone who has slightly oily or acne prone skin.

Thats basically it! My other tips for keeping your skin as clear as possible is drinking lots of water, trying to avoid touching your face at all and ALWAYS remove your makeup before you go to bed. Other than that, being a teenager usually comes with a little bit of acne. It’s totally normal to get a few spots here and there and it’s not the end of the world. Just take care of your skin and wait out the pesky teenage skin days.

Let me know some of your skin tips! See you soon,

Soft and Simple Eyeshadow Look ♡

Happy Sunday everyone 🙂

This is the very first makeup tutorial I’ve done and I’m WELL aware that it’s not perfect or professional in any way. However, if you like it and you’d like to see more tutorials like it, comment below and let me know!

I used my Morphe 35T palette for this look, and these shades are the ones I used.

IMG_0685 (1).jpg

To prime my eyes, I used a cream concealer all over the lid and above my brows. I blended that all in with a beauty blender and then set it with powder.

First I took the two taupey brown shades (left) and put them in my crease. Blend them really well so as not to leave any harsh marks.

Then I took the orangey gold colour (bottom) and applied that over the other two crease colours. Blend again.

Then I took the light pinky toned sparkle shadow and applied that all over my eyelid. Taking the NYX jumbo eye pencil in the shade Milk (which is just plain white) I spread that all over my lid. This is just a base to make my pigment stick better. I used my NYX pigment  in “Diamonds” all over my lid. I finished it with some straight winged liner and the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara! And Voila!

And that’s it! If you want to get yourself a Morphe palette heres the link to their website…

Have a lovely week

Mini NYX makeup haul

Hey everyone!

Last week I went to Dublin with my mom and my sister on a little post Christmas shopping trip, to try and grab some of what was left of the sales. Liffey Valley, the shopping centre we went to, recently got an NYX counter, which is full of gorgeous NYX products. NYX is one of my favourite makeup brands, even though my nearest shop that stocks NYX is minuscule compared to this huge counter. I managed to narrow down my purchases and I came out with 4 things.
I thought I’d leave this post a few days so I could try out the products and give a really detailed and honest review of them. So here you go!

Pore Filler primer

I was so confused by this product. I expected a much creamier, moisturiser like consistency, like most primers are, but this is so weird! It’s got an almost chalky/satiny like feel to it. I focused it mainly on the centre of my face, where my pores are most visible and I love the way it made my foundation look. I also think my makeup stays on way longer because of this. If you have slightly oily skin like I do, I would recommend highly, however it is VERY mattifying so if you have dry skin you might not like this.

Liquid Suede Lipstick- 03 Sandstorm

I walked out of the shop with 30 swatches on my hand trying to find the perfect colour and I got damn near close to it with this one. I love this colour so much. I’d heard good things about the Liquid Suede lipsticks. They go on really nicely, and dry matte which I love. They don’t dry out your lips and are super easy to apply.

the NYX Wonderstick

This is so cool. I’m not a huge fan of cream contour but I tried this out anyway and it’s so easy to blend and it comes out really nice. If anything, I like it apply it underneath my powder contour and it makes it look really nice. The other side of the stick, is a cream highlighter stick, which isn’t very pigmented but the contour side makes up for it.

Pigment- Diamonds

I couldn’t help myself with this one! I have had a bit of a love affair with glitter recently (refer to Glitterbug> ). This shade is like a white/silver colour and its shimmery and sparkly and all things beautiful. I want all the colours now!

Have you tried any amazing NYX products? Let me know what they are!

My Favourite Beauty Youtubers

Hi lovely people!

I was blown away by the support on my previous post, about the lessons 2016 taught me. Nothing makes me happier than feeling like I’ve connected with someone through something I’ve written or said.

So thank you for that 🙂 a big cyber hug.

Anyways, over the Christmas Holidays I’ve been watching a lot of makeup tutorials. I feel like the more videos I watch of people contouring and highlighting their face the better it will make me at doing my own.
So I decided to give some of my faves a shoutout, and let more people know how fantastic they are. If you’re looking for tips or advice about anything beauty related you’ll surely find it on these fabulous people’s channels.
Just a disclaimer, this list isn’t in order of best to worst. I love them all.

James Charles
James is a 17 year old self taught makeup artist who makes the most beautiful videos in which he creates looks a makeup lover could only dream of doing. He’s extremely talented and only a few months ago he became the first ever male Covergirl. I’ve been following him for a while and I was super proud of him when I heard of his huge achievement. He’s magnificent, go check him out.

Carli Bybel
If you watch any makeup tutorials at all, you’ve probably heard of her already. Carli is gorgeous and her makeup looks have me swooning every time.

It’s not really a secret how much I love Zoe and all she does, but her beauty videos are so helpful too. There are so many things in my makeup drawer that I’ve been convinced to buy because I’ve seen it in one of her favourites videos. She’s the queen of Youtube in my opinion.

Tanya Burr
All of Tanya’s videos are so lovely to watch but her beauty videos are especially nice. There’s something about her voice that is so nice to listen to and I find her videos so relaxing. She’s such a beauty too.
Lauren Curtis
Her makeup tutorials have actually taught me so much. Just thank you Lauren Curtis.

Sophia Mitchell
A shoutout to an Irish youtuber! Although she doesn’t need it, she’s blowing up all on her own. And no surprise because her makeup tutorials are really fab.
Claudia Sulewski
I know majority of Claudia’s videos aren’t makeup videos but I just love love love her channel. You can tell she really puts effort into editing her videos. Her tutorials are really great.

SoSueMe Highlighter Kit Review

Hey Everyone!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

So for Christmas, my legend of a little sister gave me the SoSueMe Highlighter Kit. If you live under a rock in the blogging world, and you don’t know who SoSueMe is, her name is Suzanne Jackson, and she’s an Irish blogger turned beauty extraordinaire who’s recently come out with a contour kit, a line of false lashes and most recently, a highlight palette.

This palette had six gorgeous shimmering highlights. They all have names that melt my heart, “Moon Sparkle” and “Unicorn dust” make my innermost girly girl squeal. Their pigmentation is just as squeal-worthy. I did some swatches just to show you how they look on skin.

I used a mixture of moon sparkle and shooting star on my face, last sunday night and I honestly loved them just as much as I expected to. It made my cheekbones look defined and glowing, and it was noticeable in pictures too.

To conclude, this palette is worth every penny (thanks sis) and if you’re on the lookout for a palette with highlight shades to suit your every makeup look, then look no further.

Thanks Suzanne! x

Favourite makeup buys 2016!

I’ve spent a decent amount of money on makeup this year. Definitely more money than I had to spend, and more money than I spent last year. I do pride myself on finding good bargains when it comes to makeup and clothes, and from experience, I’ve discovered the best brands, that have cheap, good quality makeup, that suits my skin. I did however, splurge on some things that weren’t too cheap but calling it a “treat” always sorts that out.

Today I put together a list of my favourite makeup products that I bought in 2016. I’ll leave links under all of them in case you want to purchase!

I bought my first mac lipstick this year, in an airport duty free and I was so excited. I was very happy with the colour I chose, as I think it goes with every makeup look. This is Mac’s Whirl.

IMG_2094 (1).jpg

This is my Morphe 35T palette which I absolutely love. It’s a mixture of 35 matte and sparkly shadows which are just to die for. There’s so many great looks you can create with this it’s just beautiful and I would recommend to everyone.

This is the Sleek highlighting palette in Solstice. This highlight is my favourite ever and I don’t find the need to try out any other highlighters because this one has 4 fabulous shades that suit my skin perfectly.

Along with probably every other makeup lover on earth, I adore the Naked 3 palette. It’s just the perfect combination of soft pinky, mauve shades. It’s super blendable and natural looking.

This was a gift from my lovely aunt who said it was too sparkly for her face and gave it to me. This is the shimmer brick and it is definitely on the pricier side but it gives your cheeks a gorgeous glow, not too rosy that it makes you look like a doll, but enough that it wakens your face up beautifully.–rose

This is a lot cheaper than my last favourite but I like it just as much! This is the matte finishing spray from NYX. I’ve been using this for ages and it keeps my makeup on forever. It also mattifys your skin and keeps you from looking oily throughout the day.

And thats it! That’s all my favourite makeup products from 2016. I’ve left links under all of them in case you want to check any of them out and treat yourself this Christmas. Let me know in the comments if you have any of these or have your eye on any of them this Christmas. Also let me know what your favourite products of 2016 were! Have a lovely Sunday!

5 beauty products under €5

Hey everyone!

Happy thanksgiving to all my American friends. I’m ashamed to say as half american, that the only way I benefit from this holiday is through the Black Friday sales 😉

On that note, saving money to buy beauty products can be hard sometimes. I have learned how great many cheap makeup brands are, because I had no money for more expensive ones. Today, I thought I’d share that with the blog and show you some of my favourite beauty products under  €5. All of these can be bought at Primark or Boots.

Obviously I had to include this. My ride or die concealer, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer.

Pennys/Primark lipliners! This one is such a lovely colour and it’s  only €1.99. I’m not too sure what colour it is exactly, because it’s not on the packaging but it’s the nude one.

I really love this mascara. I’ve been using it for about 3 years and it’s just such good value for a mascara of that quality. It gives mega length to your lashes, so if length is something you look for above volume I would highly recommend. Its also got a very thin brush so it’s perfect for lower lashes that you don’t want to smudge.

IMG_0403 (1).jpg

I hear this is a dupe for the Nars ‘orgasm’ blush that everyone raves about, but I can’t say I’ve tried that one. This blush however is gorgeous. It’s really pigmented but never comes out too rosy on your cheeks. It’s just the perfect shade of soft pink to give you a little glow.

IMG_0402 (1).jpg

My final beauty buy under  €5 is Wet and Wilds lipstick in the shade “Bare it All”. Again, I’ve heard this is a dupe for a much more expensive lipstick (macs velvet teddy) so I decided before I went out and bought the mac one which was quadruple the price, I would try this one out and see if I liked the colour. I love it so much. I wear it most days when I don’t want to wear a colourful lipstick and sometimes I wear it to school too. It’s cheap, pigmented and soft on your lips, what more could you ask for?

That’s it! I hope you learned something from this little guide. If you’ve got any of these products, or want to check them out in the future, let me know below!

Have a lovely thanksgiving!

Fake Tan Routine!

My favourite fake tan is actually an Irish brand called “Cocoa Brown”. I’ve tried many tans in the past and I can honestly say I’ve has the best experiences with this one, by far. I don’t use fake tan on a daily or even weekly basis, as I don’t think it’s necessary for school or everyday life, but I do go out a weekend every now and then with my friends or go to a concert and want to be tanned and glammed to the max. So if you’re also a lover of the bronze, read on for tips on how to always get the most even, beautiful tan you can (please pardon the rhyme that was too tempting).

A complete shave of the legs is necessary for an even tan. I recommend shaving the night before you apply the tan, as It gives your skin time to breathe, and if you put on tan right after shaving, it can settle into your pores and leave you looking like a spotty orange, which is not the desired affect at all.

Exfoliating your whole body is key. You want to take a luffa, or washcloth and exfoliate in circles around your body in the shower. For added, deeper exfoliation, use a gritty scrub, which will really get rid of any dead skin, and leave your skin smooth.

Important! But like the steps above, it should be done the night before, so it can soak into your skin and leave you soft and ready for tanning the next day.

Clean tanning mit!

I use just a simple one from Pennys which I think is like 2 euro or something. Make sure your mit is clean and dry before applying the tan to it.
The cocoa brown tan I use, comes in a mousse formula, which I find very easy to buff around your body, especially difficult areas like your shoulders and knees. It settles into your skin really well and doesn’t make you look patchy or sticky at all.
To apply it, shake the bottle, and squirt some onto the mit. Then just buff quickly onto your skin, making sure to blend properly so there’s no streaks.

Some cocoa brown tans are wash-off ones, which you can leave on for however long you want (recommended 1 hour for a natural looking tan, 3 hours + for a darker glow).

And voila! Perfect, even looking tan every time. I hope this helped some if you’re new to fake tan or it scares you a little bit (the fear of looking like an oompa loompa is real). If you have any tan suggestions for me, leave it in the comments below.
