How To Style: Shirt Dresses ♡

Hey everyone!

Something I picked up recently in Penny’s, which I have become a bit obsessed with, is this shirt dress.

I was skeptical at first, thinking that it would overpower me or make me look lost in it (as I’m short and baggy dresses sometimes do that). But I was very pleasantly surprised.

This got me thinking of the many different ways I could make the dress look different and cool.

My initial thought was to wear it barelegged (I think tights could make it look too dark) and a simple pair of chelsea boots. Chelsea boots are just little black slip on boots if you weren’t sure.

I’m actually not sure where I got my ones, but you can get a great pair from Schuh.

The second way I would have styled this, was with a pair of white converse runners, and a denim jacket. I think a denim jacket looks cool over almost anything (except more denim of course…)

You can get a pair like this from Schuh for €56.00

The third way I would style this shirt, is to wear it open (yes open) but put a white or grey tank top underneath and a pair of jeans or shorts. Leaving the shirt long and flowy immediately makes your outfit look sophisticated and put together.

Hope this interested some of you! Let me know how you would style this shirt dress, so I can get the most wear out of it possible.

Lazy Day Guide ♡

hello hello!

Sorry I’ve been m.i.a for a bit, I’ve had a pretty full up week, and with school and everything time just sort of got away from me. but I’m back (and I’ve really missed blogging).

I’ve just got midterm holidays which means a week full of doing nothing (except blogging and binge watching netflix) which I’m very excited to do.

Anyways, today i’ve decided to go with the theme of doing absolutely nothing.
I’m a big fan of a lazy day here and there.
I’ve put together a little lazy day guide, a kind of “how-to” on relaxing and having the best lazy day ever. So if you’re in need of a day of a relaxation, or need some inspo for what to spend your Sunday doing, keep reading.

Get Comfy

The most important step. There’s no comfort in a lazy day where your face is caked with makeup and you’re wearing your skinniest jeans. Choose your oldest sweatpants and some fluffy socks for the ultimate “Lazy Day” experience.

There’s so many great shows and movies on Netflix, that you’ll never run out of things to keep you entertained. Some of my favourites at the minute, are Gossip Girl, American Horror Story, How to get away with murder, and Black Mirror.

If you don’t like reading, obviously this step isn’t for you, but I personally love a good book on a lazy day. It’s one of the things that relaxes me most in the world.

Nice Scents

My top tip for nice scents is use them in your bath or shower. Scents that you love, can be super calming and it’s always nice to smell good. Lush has some incredible scents, so you’re bound to find one you like in there. I really like vanilla scents so I get a lot of use out of this little Vanilla Dee-Lite body lotion.

Outfit Planning

If you find it difficult to be unproductive (which it can be sometimes) there’s always useful things you can do around the house that I find almost therapeutic, one being, outfit planning. This is fun, as well as relaxing. Just go through your wardrobe and pick out things that you think look good together. Also, if there’s anything you don’t wear anymore, or have grown out of, put it aside and you can give to it a friend or to charity. Cleaning out your wardrobe is like a breath of fresh air.

Other things that perfect a lazy day:

Looking through old photos

Sorting out your makeup

Online shopping

Arts and crafts

Painting your nails

Pennys/Primark Winter must haves!

hello hello!

Have you noticed the change in my blog theme? I’m not sure about it yet, but leave comment and let me know what you think, is it hard to navigate or read or anything like that?

Annnnyways, today I put together a little favourites from my recent trip to Pennys (which is Primark if you live in the UK). Pennys is honestly one of my favourite shops, everything is just so affordable and cute. You go in there for a pair of socks and come out with every single piece of their homeware collection, makeup you don’t need and a pair of shorts even though its November. Do you know what I mean?

This cable knit cardigan was €12 and is so warm and cosy. I have a feeling I’m going to be over-wearing this ALOT.

The cutest leather bag ever, was only €14.99.

I love hats so I got a maroon bobble hat for when it get’s a bit colder. This was €7 I think.

I got this bodysuit a little while ago, but its really cute and it goes with everything so I thought I’d include it. This was €6.

Purpose Tour 2016

Last Tuesday, the 1st of November I went with my 3 friends and my sister to see Justin Bieber in the 3arena in Dublin. Me and my sister have been huge Bieber fans since 2010. We’ve grown up with Justin, listening and loving everything he puts out, and sticking by him when the media rips him to shreds. So for the past year, since we got the tickets, we’ve been counting down the days. Finally last Tuesday the day had arrived.

We woke up bright and early, at 7 and were on the road by half 8. I took a few pictures of my makeup which was just a soft brown eye shadow and nude lip combo, with minimal eyeliner as i knew it would be running down my face in the cold after 5 minutes.

We planned to wait outside the venue for most of the day, so I knew that my makeup would be long gone by 8pm that evening anyway.

For my outfit, I wore a plaid american apparel skirt I got for my birthday, with black tights (because November is cold), a grey bodysuit and a black leather jacket. I wore that with a very practical shoe choice, my black hi-sk8 vans.

We were standing for the concert which was absolutely crazy. If you’ve ever stood for a concert and experienced pushing and shoving, I promise you this was 10 times worse. So many girls were fainting and collapsing it was very scary. I don’t like big crowds at the best ofttimes, but this was just awful.
I couldn’t let that ruin my night though. Justin came on and nothing else mattered. It was magical the whole night and I’m continuously blown away by his talent.

I finally got my merch I’ve been waiting forever for too, and I’m happy as larry now sitting here looking back at my videos from the night and wearing my JB t-shirt proudly.
Are any of you going to Purpose tour, or have you been already? What did you think?

My 17th birthday and 100 followers

So Thursday was my 17th birthday!

It was a really nice day, even though most of it was spent at school and I’ve had an awful head cold all week. Aside from that I really enjoyed the day. My friends are the sweetest and they brought in little sweeties and baked goods for a mini party in school. After school I had another little bday celebration with my grandparents and my family. We just had cake and tea and sat around for a few hours talking and whatnot.

I had a gorgeous bath with the marshmallow bath oil from lush which made me feel lush for lack of a better word. Then I just chilled out and watched some YouTube for the rest of the night. It was quite a boring birthday but nice all the same. Yesterday we got all dolled up and went out to another friends birthday party which is the pic above of me and my gorgeous friend in the jeans.

I’m weirdly excited to be seventeen. I feel like it sounds so much better than being sixteen. Is that weird to say?

The biggest surprise though, was when I logged into my blog and saw that I’d hit 100 followers! The 21st of September marks the 1 month anniversary of alanathropology and every day I still get a rush of excitement each time I open a new tab, type in my name and see my blog pop up. I still get butterflies every time I post something new (praying someone will actually read it) and I still smile so big whenever I get a notification that someone liked or followed or left a lovely comment. So thank you, so very much to each and every one of you. You have made this past month so much better than I expected it to be and stay tuned because this is only the beginning of alanathropology. Love you!

Signing off,

London Fashion Week: show stoppers

Ah fashion week.

Ever since I was I was old enough to say the word fashion I wanted to be there.
Fashion week is the place to be. Anyone who’s anyone in the fashion industry is there, and in full swing for a week out of a fashion bloggers dream.
Watching from home just isn’t the same is it?
I hope one day I get the chance to even peek over the walls at it happening, because that is my ultimate destination.

Fashion for me usually isn’t about overpriced clothes and size 0 models and pretentious fashion shows. It’s about creativity and being bold and daring and a bit cheeky.
However, every year fashion week rolls around, you’ll find me glued to my laptop, with my eyes peeled for the most beautiful lines and labels, whatever the price.

This year, the one that stole the show for me was a label I hadn’t heard of before; Temperley London. For me, it was as much art as it was fashion. Here are some of the pieces that made me swoon.
